Here's what the humans have to say about me:
FOSTER AND/OR ADOPTER NEEDED:
Gunther is a big beautiful 4 year old neutered male at 130 pounds. He has recently had ACL surgery on both back legs so currently he is a little slow and also somewhat timid around new people. He prefers carpeting at this time, but is getting use to hardwood floors. This has been a slower process. He is getting better at climbing stairs but likes to have someone behind him so he doesn't fall.
Gunther is fully house trained and has had no indoor accidents at his current foster home. He needs to go outside 15-20 minutes after each of his two meals that he is currently getting, but he does not need to stay outside for extended periods of time. He is also taking Cosequin and fish oil tablets with each meal. This is something that will probably continue as it helps him to walk easier. He requires light exercise, but because of his recent surgeries is not a big walker. This makes him a very easy dog to have if someone is working or away most of the day.
Gunther enjoys riding in the car and most of the time is very quiet both at home or being in the car. He will occasionally bark to alert one of a predator, but is not a constant barker and quits upon reassurance that everything is OK.
Gunther would do best in a home without small children, other pets or a great deal of commotion. He enjoys easy listening to music and he also enjoys just lying on the lawn for extended periods of time listening to nature. At this stage of his life he needs a great deal of TLC but is more than willing to give a lot of love to someone who will truly care for him. If you feel Gunther is the Pyr for you, please fill out the application.
NorthStar Great Pyrenees Rescue of MN almost always requires a visible, securely fenced yard for fostering or adopting.
Gunther is up to date on shots, heart worm negative, neutered and microchipped.
An adoption application, site visit, and adoption fee are required to adopt Gunther. Thank you for your interest in Gunther and also our rescue.
