Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rudy is a 9-year-old neutered male yellow lab. Rudy weighs 57 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
MOST RECENT UPDATE: Rudy is such a good boy! He is relaxing nicely with his foster family and is getting a spring in his step:) He is learning about how wonderful it is to live inside. He is adjusting to walking on hard surfaces indoors and still prefers walking on carpeting; his fosters placed throw rugs so he can scamper happily around the house. He has been accident-free in the house for a full week so we think the house-training message is clicking! He crates well and has been okay for up to 6 hours without a break. He should be crated when you leave the house, as he is still learning to leave people things alone. He rarely barks except for a brief period when he is crated and you depart. He did not understand stairs when he arrived, but he mastered them and climbs them without issue.
Rudy is medium energy, currently getting two ¾ mile walks each day with some breaks in between to roam the yard or play inside. On walks, he does great interacting with people as well as other dogs. He enjoyed a visit to the baseball field, visiting with everyone. He is not overly interested in other dogs, but he will interact with them nicely for a short period of time. He got along well with a visiting Jack Russell.
UPDATE: Rudy is doing great in his foster home! He really warmed up to his fosters and is a sweet, affectionate boy. He has done well in his crate when alone during the day and sleeps in bed with the teenage daughter at night without problem. He has had only one accident in the house in almost a week now that he knows where to go - he goes out every few hours when his people are home. He gets along well with other dogs he encounters on walks. He does pull a little at squirrels, but he is not bad at all. He is learning to know the difference between his toys and general household items:) He is trying to work on sit, and he’s starting to learn no. Rudy loves to chase and fetch a ball, and his face shows the pure joy he has at sharing the fun!
DESCRIPTION: This sweet boy loves everyone. He thinks humans are great despite the fact that his past human did not take great care of him. He was allowed to wander around and when he wanrered into the wrong yard he was attacked by the dog that lived there. Once at the shelter his owner was called who never showed up to take him home.
Rudy would love a home that will allow him to give his love and have a soft bed and some ear scratches in return. Maybe a few treats as well.
