Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hoss is a handsome 10 year old Boxer mix who was surrendered to a local animal control officer after his owner passed away and the family was going to euthanize him. The vet and animal control officer didn't see any reason why Hoss needed to be put down since he's a healthy guy with a spark in his eye and a spring in his step, so they saved him.
Hoss is a quiet guy, except when he has something to say - he likes to "talk" to you and tell stories :) He likes to roam around the yard, take in some sun on the deck, or just sit on the top step of the deck and check out the world. He takes treats ever so gently. Hoss has been through a lot of transitions lately so is reserved at first, but once he gets comfortable in his surroundings, he'll give you lots of love and kisses (check out the video!).
Hoss is fine with kids, cats, and other dogs. He is house trained, neutered, and up to date on shots. We did baseline blood work on Hoss and he is in remarkably great health, despite being a bit underweight due to a poor diet. His owner fed him only table scraps, so his diet wasn't great, but he gobbles up his dog food and already put on a few pounds (he's currently 45 pounds, but probably needs another 8 or 10 pounds on his frame).
If you are interested in adopting Hoss, who is being fostered in the Lowell area, please complete an application on our website at http://www.baystatedogs.com/adopt (you can fill in the online form or submit the Word version - whichever is easier for you). The adoption process includes an application, phone interview, home visit, vet reference, adoption contract, and adoption fee ($100).
