Meet Gemini! Gemini is a Pinto mare who was returned to Longmeadow in 2024 due to no fault of her own. She spent some time settling in and is now ready to find her forever home!
Gemini initially came to Longmeadow in 2019 as part of a rescue. Upon her initial evaluation, our trainer believed Gemini was trained under saddle, but she was not safe enough to be adopted out as rideable. It was clear at the time that she had lost trust in people. We decided to let her live as a pasture pet for a few years, where she had a comfortable and easy life.
Upon her recent return, our trainers reevaluated her. This time, Gemini was significantly more willing and relaxed, though she still needed a refresher. Our trainers put her through a two-week refresher program, after which she was able to comfortably ride at a walk and gait in our indoor arena. While she may need a bit more time to be ready for trail riding, she progressed quickly through our training, and we don`t anticipate it will take much more. This sweet girl is a people pleaser who genuinely wants to do a good job for her handler, though she tends to be on the nervous side and often looks to her rider for confidence. Gemini has a smooth gait and would be well-suited for an intermediate rider if they send her to a professional trainer for a 60-day refresher course, or an advanced intermediate rider with training experience if they prefer to do it themselves.
Gemini is a sweet soul. She stands well for the farrier and the vet and would make a great horse for an adopter with a love for the gaited gals!
Adoption Fee: $800 Height: 15hh Maximum Carrying Weight (includes tack and rider): 170lbs
