Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Berkeley Animal Care Services. We are temporarily suspending adoptions during the state mandated Shelter In Place Order. Please check back at a later date with adoption inquiries.
FOSTER CARE: Hattie is in foster and not housed at the shelter. Call or message Berkeley Animal Care Services to arrange a meet and greet.
***ADOPTION FEE WAIVED***
Hattie was placed in a home in order to recover from a nasty skin infection. She’s happy and healthy now! Her foster mom said she’s one of the most good-natured dogs she’s cared for. In the house she’s fearless & sweet, energetic when she has a playmate and totally mellow without one. She’s not fond of outings that aren’t part of her routine and city life is not for her. Hattie wants nothing more to follow and play paparazzi to another dog and to cuddle up in her bed somewhere near you or next to you on the couch. She’s affectionate without being overly rambunctious. She’s happy to use a doggie door to go out into the yard or garden and would do best in a house with outside areas. She does like to take quiet walks, especially at the dog park where she goes off leash, occasionally runs with the dogs she knows, but mostly sticks to your side! She needs to be adopted to a home with another dog to show her the ropes-she will imitate every action and adjust quickly. I really don’t think she should be the only dog at home. She really retreats and is unhappy alone. She’ll likely spend a lot of time under the bed if she is scared. She’s fine with kids, all people and other dogs, but scared of joggers, bicycles, and trucks!
Other notes to add to her ‘file’:
She hates the shower and running water, but will happily be put in a Warm bath in a big sink, lined with a towel!
She’s well potty-trained but will likely have accidents her first few days in a new house since she’s a scaredy cat.
She’s not fond of car rides.
She has no problem taking her anti-histamine with a bit of meat or cheese
