Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATE: BELLA IS THRU HER TREATMENT AND IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION. We don’t know much about Bella’s previous journey through life, but do know that she was dropped off at the WAS by someone saying she was a rescue. She came in on a cable tie out, and leash. She was shy and quiet in her kennel. She was never claimed and came into our program to start a new journey in her life.
We are learning as much as we can about her and her life before Pals. We think she is a Boxer/ Great Dane mix. She weighs about 70 lbs. We do know that she has been spayed, and we think she is about 2 years old. But, the biggest eye opener is that we found out that she is heartworm positive. That tells us that whom ever owned her did not listen to the advise of their veterinarian and did not keep her on heartworm prevention.
She was shy and nervous at first, but is now a very outgoing, playful and active girl. She is a dominant female dog and does best with male dogs and smaller dogs and is ok with cats. She is a very sensitive girl who knows some obedience commands. To look at her you would never think she was heartworm positive. But, because of the heartworms, she now faces a difficult, and sometimes dangerous treatment to kill the heartworms before they do much damage to her heart and lungs.
Her activity level will make it difficult to keep her quiet during her treatment to keep her safe. We hope to see her though this and on her way to a great home. We will keep you posted on her progress
