My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Monkey is a 5-year-old spayed female black lab. Monkey weighs 56 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.

MOST RECENT UPDATE: It’s been exactly one week since adoptable Monkey had her TPLO surgery and she is walking well!! Monkey is such a calm dog that keeping her on restricted activity has been very easy. She is no longer tempted to lick her incision, which is healing well, so no need for the Cone of Shame. The rest of her recovery should go smoothly. This 5-year-old love bug has been our easiest foster so far. This girl asks for nothing but to be by your side. She is so well behaved and trustworthy in the house, wakes only when you wake up in the morning, and is very polite and gentle. This girl is an absolute gem!

UPDATE: Adoptable and adorable Monkey is showing off her best head tilt! Monkey is 5 years old, approved for ages 10 and up, dog friendly (though she prefers calm dogs like herself), and unknown with cats. She is one of the sweetest, most affectionate, and least demanding dogs you’ll ever meet. She is crate trained and knows basic commands. Monkey is currently recovering well from TPLO surgery and is still available for adoption. She is a Velcro dog who will make some lucky person or family a wonderful companion!

UPDATE: Monkey moved north to a new foster this weekend and she is proving to be quite the love bug! She adores people and is happiest by your side. If you like being smothered in kisses, Monkey’s your girl. Monkey is calm, well-behaved in the house, knows basic commands, is not a barker, sleeps through the night, and is just an overall sweetheart. Because she is a gentle soul, Monkey would do best in a home without a lot of commotion. And because she is such a people-oriented dog, she would prefer her adopters to be home more often than gone. She gets along with other dogs, but can be a little intimidated by rambunctious, larger dogs. She was reported to be very sweet with her former foster’s smaller, calmer dog, but did not have a lot of interaction with the larger, more playful dogs. Due to a bum knee, Monkey has not been able to exercise, but she is reported to walk well on a leash and will be content with a few leisurely strolls a day. Monkey will be having surgery next week, and once this girl gets all fixed up, she is going to make someone a wonderful, faithful companion.

UPDATE: Woof! Monkey is sad because summer is almost over and she will not be able to wear her hat and shades anymore - she will have to shop for a scarf! She is a very good sport and is willing to sport attire to entertain her foster family:) Her foster dad took her to Petco and she did great. She enjoyed the yummy smells and seeing all the other dogs.

DESCRIPTION: Monkey is a happy and friendly dog. She enjoys being in the yard, but think she would be just as happy to be a couch potato and hang with you. Hasn't shown any interest in playing with toys yet. She sits nicely for treats and takes them gently. She does fine when she goes out to play in the yard with our other pups. Think she would be happy to be a couch potato and just hang with you. She would like a family that has a yard for her to play in to give her the exercise she needs. Misty is now at a fosters and is living with 3 other dogs without problems

UPDATE: Woof! Monkey is getting ready for football season and can't wait for the weather to get cooler. Note that she is willing to shift her team allegiance if her adopter likes one of those OTHER teams:) She likes taking walks with her foster family and sitting outside on the deck, watching the world go by. She definitely watches for the rabbits to zoom past! Monkey's foster mom took her to Starbucks for a Puppercino and she loved it!

UPDATE: Woof! Monkey says hello and wants to share that she is a very calm and well behaved pup! She loves to lay around with her foster parents and the resident dogs. She likes to relax and loves rolling on her back and wriggling around so her tummy can be scratched. Monkey is very obedient and knows basic commands, such as sit and stay.

UPDATE: Foster update: Monkey is a very affectionate and loving pup. She enjoys walking and is calm and easy on leash. She gets a bit excited when she sees a squirrel. She is settling in well with her foster family and gets along well with her foster brothers and sisters. She enjoyed her bath. She is food-motivated and will come running anytime she hears a bag being opened (hmmmm...must be a lab!).
