Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Are you looking for a lazy, calm, lay-around, nonchalant beagle to join your family?? Well, sorry, that’s not me! If you are still interested based on my adorable good looks, and the fact that I am a handsome bluetick beagle, read on, please!!
First, my name is Morgan, as in a boy, like Morgan Freeman, you know, the famous actor! I am certainly a shining star in my foster home. I weigh around 25 pounds. I get along with everyone, people and dogs alike. In fact, I like new friends so much, that I am certain they all want to play. Thank goodness the beagle here likes to play, and the neighbor dog does also. She is a golden retriever and tolerates my crazy rough play really well!! Foster mom insists that I should have better manners about the insistence of playing, but I can’t help it and she agrees, my playtime keeps me out of trouble! The main time I bark is when I am trying to get one of my friends to play and they aren’t responding! I am around one year old and have lots of energy unless I get a lot of exercise. We’ve been taking 4-mile hikes each morning, with multiple romps in the backyard with my buddies, and another mile walk in the evening. My foster brother and I also love to stalk and chase the squirrels in our backyard! These activities keep me out of mischief and makes me a very good dog…..foster mom tells me often! She says I have a very sweet, though active, fun personality! I nap on and off during the day, when my foster mom is teaching flute students, as long as I’ve had the opportunity to be walked and played a bit.
I respond well to “no” and come when called, most of the time, especially if I know there’s a treat involved! “No“ has been used mostly when I jump, or run off with a sandal, sock, maybe even a plant or I grab something like an electric cord…..you know, the normal young beagle stuff! This behavior isn’t constant, but it does exist every once in a while! I know the word “sit” very well, though I may jump and be crazy before I hear you say, “sit”. I do walk well on my leash, unless there’s a squirrel or dog ahead of me or unless I decide I want to smell, then I may lay down and tell you I am not going anywhere at the moment! I seem to be potty trained, only having 2 accidents in the house, but foster mom makes sure if I haven’t been out in a while, I go out and do my business. I sleep in a crate at night and go in one when my foster mom leaves. We aren’t left that often, so I am really good when I do need to be left in the crate for 1-4 hours.
If I have any say in the adoption thing, I’d like to request a family that may have a playmate for me, a fenced yard and someone who will take me for long walks daily. It’d sure work out well if I wasn’t crated an entire work day too. I am a bit of a shadow and like being near my people. In fact, I love to jump up on the couch next to them in the evening and nap, when the day is winding down. I love attention almost as much as I love playing! Would I fit well into your family? I sure hope so, as I am ready for a forever family to call my own!
NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
