My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
I am Lukas!!

How old are you?
About 1.5 years (a/o March 2020)

How much do you weigh?
About 60lbs

What do you look like?
I am grey and white with the most beautiful matching grey eyes. My face is white with a grey patch and my body is mostly grey.

What do you like to eat?
I currently eat Nutro puppy food but my humans haven’t found anything I won’t eat yet. I love treats!

What kind of personality do you have?
I am active and love to play. Once I have played for a while I will lay day and relax while watching a movie as long as I have a bone or toy to chew on. Once the movie is over I am usually ready to play again.

Describe your perfect day:
My perfect day would be to explore the backyard or go for a walk. Once I have tired myself out I would love to relax near humans. I also love to go for card rides. And I love to eat. I would be happy doing anything with people.

What is your favorite toy?
I think everything is a toy. I especially love anything I can carry around with me or chew on. I like balls but I am still learning to bring them back after someone gives them to me.

Do you know any tricks?
I know sit, wait, shake, leave it, and down. I will do just about anything for treats if you teach me. My fosters also taught me to ring a bell before I go outside. I haven’t learned to use it to let them know when I need to go outside on my own yet.

What scares you?
I am not afraid of loud noises but I’m still trying to figure out my humans robot vacuum. It doesn’t scare me Too much but I am still trying to figure it out.

Have you been around children? Do you like them?
I have only met one small child and I was so excited. My fosters think I would

Do you like cats?
My fosters don’t have any cats so they haven’t been able to introduce me to one.

How do you feel about other dogs?
I tested well with other dogs at the shelter and have continued to prove myself in my foster home! My canine foster sister is a senior and can be a bit cranky. But I've won her over and sometimes we play chase! When I get to excited she lets me know. As a perfect gentlemen, I respect what she tells me!

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be? Anywhere with people. I love to go on walks and explore things outside with them.

How is your health?
I am in great health.

Who do you live with your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I live with adults in my foster home. And I love them so much. I don’t really know which one is my favorite because I love everyone. I also live with an older resident dog but we haven’t spent any one on one time together. She is a bit overwhelmed by my happy disposition.

Where do you hang out when you are home alone?
When my foster parents are not home I nap in my crate.

Where do you sleep?
I sleep in my crate

Do you like walking on a leash?
I love to go for walks and do really well. Sometimes I get excited and have to be reminded to continue on my walk.

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard?
I am a puppy so my foster parents are constantly reminding me that I cant chew on everything. When I get really excited I try to nibble on anything but they do a really good job of reminding me to “leave it” and redirecting me. My fosters give me lots of toys but if I am not supervised I have been know to find a shoe.

I also like to jump. When I get really excited, I need to be reminded of “off”. When my fosters let me out of my crate I get really excited. It helps when they put me on a leash and take me right out side to potty. Usually I have calmed down enough by then that I remember my manners.

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside)
I go potty outside but my foster parents keep a really good eye on me so that I don’t have any accidents.

Do you like water?
I think the hose is the greatest thing in the world. My foster parents are working with me on self control because I am so in love with it that I forget anything else exists when water comes out of it. I have played in a kiddie pool but we haven’t been able to go to the river or any lakes.

What do you love about your foster family?
I love when they take me for walks and scratch my back. If I could be anywhere in the world it would be with people.

What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue?
My fosters aren’t really sure what life was like before I came to the rescue. Someone left me tied to a shelter door and they contacted NBBR. My foster said they called NBBR because I am so sweet (and adorable) so they came and rescued. I was limping when they first rescued me but after lots of rest I am walking perfectly.

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We usually require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We are, however, willing to adopt out of our area, including the Bay Area, Tahoe, and even further. We've even adopted out of state on very special occasions. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and range from $200-$350. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).

Lukas's adoption donation is $200.
