My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Fergie, a 39 pound, hound mix. Fergie sustained severe injuries to both her back legs and was scheduled to be euthanized. We called just in time...there was a sigh of relief in the rescue coordinator's voice. She grabbed Fergie out of the euthanasia room and sent her to the hospital in South Carolina, where they managed her pain until a transport could be arranged. Within a few short days Fergie was in Maryland having surgery on her back legs, and she was up and standing on them the next day! Amazing dog!
Fergie is now back at PWD, and has been a great patient... quiet and calm. She is doing great and we love her sweet personality. She has not been tested with other dogs during her recuperation period, but the hospital noted she seemed fine with the dogs and cats went by during her stay there.

One month ago, you were “ just another neglected severely injured dog” waiting to be euthanized in an overcrowded shelter. You now have a team of people that care about you! Fergie still has a few more weeks of recuperation and by mid-August she should be ready to find her family! If you are interested and want to come meet her, please fill out our application.
