My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MICAH, a 12yr old border collie was left at a local shelter after an eviction from their home. He arrived lame in his back hips, no hair on his back or tail, a suspicious growth in his mouth and needing his bladder expressed daily. He was in rough shape, but still had the border collie spirit for life. The shelter spent weeks reaching out to rescues and PWD was the only one to respond. During his neuter surgery the growth was removed from his mouth (completely benign) and his "bladder issue" was determined to be a very simple procedure to enlarge the opening at the end of his urethra. Micah is a HAPPY guy these days, doing "his business" on his own, getting good food and TLC to help his hair grow back and on meds for the arthritis pain in his hips allowing him to rebuild the muscles in his back legs.

Micah is in a foster home with several others dogs but is showing little desire to interact with them. He would be great as an only dog. He is wonderful on a leash and seems to have been an outside dog, just learning that life is a little more comfortable inside with some air conditioning. He will need a home where he can be with his people without having to go over a flight of stairs (2 or 3 seems to be OK!) Micah enjoys a good bone, a soft bed, and is just learning what toys are all about - he is not too sure of them yet. We are thrilled to be able to get to know Micah and hopefully find him his final home.

Micah is 49 lbs and needs to put on a little weight.
