Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Baxter is for adoption to a home with or without another ferret. He is 23 months old, neutered, descented, microchipped. There’s an adoption process.
Baxter is one of those rare ferrets that like to be held. He comes up to you and asks to be picked up. He’s so sweet and just loves human attention.
He can be a little rough with some ferrets. So, if he goes to a home with another ferret, it needs to be one that can hold its own with him.
He loves stuffed toys and rope toys! He has stashes hidden everywhere!
Baxter is very good about using newspaper laid out and will use the litter box sometimes. He’s getting better with that and will get much better when he’s not in a home with lots of other ferrets!
He must be allowed out of the cage at least twice a day and for at least six hours a day.
Baxter has adrenal disease. About 75% of ferrets will get this. It’s not contagious and it’s not usually the cause of death for a ferret, unless it isn't treated. He got a Suprelorin (Des) implant as treatment. This is good for seven months. This slows down the adrenal disease and takes care of the symptoms. The rescue does the implants for $165. These should work as treatment for a long time and then surgery needs to be considered ($290 at the rescue vet).
$25 to adopt. He’s up to date on distemper vaccination, which is good for 18 months. He’s been treated for heartworms, fleas, intestinal parasites and ear mites.
He doesn’t come with a cage. The rescue has cages for sale for cheap, as well as nearly any ferret supplies you may need, including: food, water bottles, litter boxes, leashes, harnesses, shampoo, Ferretone, books, nail trimmers, toys, hammocks, sleep sacks, litter, flea supplies, deodorizing spray, cleaning supplies, and much more!
Plan to buy at least one month's worth of food and any needed supplies while here for the adoption. Cash, check, Paypal, Zelle, Venmo and credit card accepted. (2.9% charge on credit cards to cover the processing fee.)
