Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Belle was dropped off at Detroit Animal Care and Control. She was lactating, so she had had a litter of kittens, but they were not brought in with her. This was a good thing only because a litter of very young kittens was brought in without their mother. There eye's weren't even open yet! DACC had an idea to try and introduce this litter to Belle to see if she would take care of them. She did! When Belle's foster mom brought the family home Belle was very protective of her kittens. The foster mom only went in her room, at first, to refill food and water bowls and clean the litter box. This would help Belle get used to her presence and learn she was not a threat. With treats, catnip, playtime, and a lot of patience, Belle finally started to come around. After about 2-3 weeks Belle was purring and wanting pettings when her foster mom came in her room. When the kittens and mom were ready, they were put up for adoption. All of her kittens have found loving homes. Belle, however, has been with her foster mom for over a year and a half. And even though Belle's foster mom loves her and will be sad when she does find her furrever home, she will also be very happy that Belle has found a person or family to love her the rest of her life.
