Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Red is a 1-year-old neutered male yellow lab. Red weights 65 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
MOST RECENT UPDATE: Red is doing fantastic in doggie day care. He enjoys playing with his k-9 buddy. Red is nervous around children, so he is marked 18 and up. Red knows is basic commands and is crate and house trained. He can be a bit vocal when he is not occupied in order to get attention, so is important! He does very well playing with other dogs; however, he does take a little bit of time to become comfortable with other dogs. He can be tense when first meeting dogs, so slow introductions are the key to success. This sweet, goofy boy would love an active household with a best canine buddy.
UPDATE: Red is enjoying his time in his foster home and is progressing well! He has mastered “sit” and does it before his meals. We are now working on “paw” and “stay”. He has been accident free for over a week now and knows to stand by the door when he wants to go out. He is still a curious boy and will test the waters on what he can and can’t put in his mouth, but he has gotten better with finding toys and bones to occupy him. He found a new love for tennis balls and will retrieve them all day if he had the choice! He also adores his foster sister and follows her wherever she goes. He plays very well with her and is respectful of her toys and food. He sleeps with his fosters at night; however, he has not caught on to sleeping in on the weekends - he is an early riser! He loves going for walks and does well walking with a harness. We enjoy watching his lab bounce as he trots down the sidewalk. Red likes people, but gets overwhelmed with larger groups in the house; he may prefer a quieter home or the option to hang out in the bedroom during a party. Red is a typical, young lab and requires lots of exercise. His exercise regimen should include a couple of long walks each day, as well as running or dog-on-dog playtime at doggy daycare, a dog park, or in a yard with other dog friends.
DESCRIPTION: Red is a big, goofy, boy. He has a puppy-like personality. If Red is not occupied playing with his toys he tends to become mischievous. He enjoys having his foster sister to keep him company throughout the day. He visited the dog park a few times. When meeting a dog, Red seems a little hesitant. Other than that, he enjoys his time at the park, chasing his foster mom and dad, and getting his feet wet in the pond. He does very well on the leash and stays by your side when walking. He now knows sit and come. We are continuing to work on teaching him other commands. He loves to be held and will hop up on your lap to get some loving. He is adjusting really well and will be a great dog for a family looking for an energetic bundle of sunshine!
