Hank: 1 year old, black & tan, neutered male, natural ears & tail, 14" 10 lbs. Shots up-to-date & micro-chipped. Rescued from shelter.
Hank is another of the one-year-old pups who were picked up and taken to a small rural shelter. Because of the number of dogs coming into the shelter on a regular basis and a lack of space for them, dogs are put to sleep to make room. Through no fault of his, Hank found himself at the shelter and in danger. His answer to the stress was to hide in the corner and hope no one noticed him. This did little to get him adopted before his time was up so IMPS came to his rescue. Hank came into his foster home like a perfect gentleman. He stood perfectly still while the other dogs sniffed him and checked him out without any issues at all. After he adjusted to his new life, his personality has begun to develop. He will not start issues with the other dogs, and is a lover not a fighter, but he's not going to take abuse either. If one of the older dogs tries to pick on him, he will defend himself and they have all learned to leave him alone. He is very sweet and calm, especially for such a young boy. Hank has not had accidents in the house as long as he's taken out regularly and he has not been destructive. He has learned to use the doggie door. He is a delight to have around and will now crate quietly, although he prefers to sleep with his humans. Hank can escape through tiny holes in a fence if he's motivated, so beware. I know that because he escaped from his foster mom's "little dog proof" fence. He came tearing down the driveway and across a busy street to get to his foster Mom who was on the other side nearly causing her to have a heart attack. He was not trying to get away, he just wanted to be with his foster Mom and didn't like being left behind.
Hank is a little shy at first, but he doesn't slink away and hide, he just waits, perfectly still, until he's sure of himself before coming up to new people. He doesn't appear afraid, he's just more of a silent, reserved kind of guy, but one who loves attention.
Hank is going to make a wonderful addition to the lucky family who adopts him and gives him a forever home. No more shelters for this boy!
NOTE: Hank is located in Elk Grove, CA. We will only fly this boy in-cabin with the Adopter.
