Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Dale" and "Mason" were two of several dogs confiscated from a hoarding case and taken to the local shelter where then they were pulled to be euthanized :/ We stepped in and got them to safety. Although we are not sure the two are related, they do seem to compliment each other. For that reason, we would like to place them in a home together. Their ideal adopter will be someone who is dog savvy, has some patience and is willing to work with them on continued training and socialization. We believe these boys to be Flat Coated Retriever mixes. They are 1-2 years old, 45-50lbs. and dog and kitty friendly.
Mason is pictures 1 and 3. He is very timid and wary of new people and situations. Dale definitely gives him comfort and helps to put him at ease and show him the ropes. Mason is house and crate trained. He prefers to be crated with/close to Dale or otherwise cries :( Mason's biggest issue is trust. And so he will need continued reassurance that all is ok and that he is a special, loved boy.
Dale is pictures 1 and 2.. He had to be shaved down due to severe matting. His coat will likely be as beautiful as Mason's once it grows back. D Dale is much more puppy-like. He is playful and displays lots of puppy behavior. He enjoys his toys and will mistake your shoe for one if you are not careful :O Dale is also crate and house trained. He also prefers to be with or near Mason or he cries. Dale is very affectionate and loves to be pet and played with. Dale brings out the playful side in Mason for sure and Mason is happy to follow his lead.
The ideal home for these dogs would be one where folks are home more than not, has a physically fenced/contained yard and either without children or with kids 12 and up. We understand that placing two young dogs together is difficult. But we think in the right home, these two boys will thrive and become very loyal, loving canine citizens. If you think you have what these two need, please send an inquiry today! Both dogs are fully vetted and microchipped.
