Mamma Jolene was rescued from the shelter in late-december. We knew just by the way she looked she had had a rough life. Skinny, over-bred, under cared-for. When we took her to the vet, her original prognosis was kidney failure with 2 months left. We were determined to give mamma the best life she could possibly get, so we started her on a kidney-friendly diet, some special supplements and medications. Here we are 6-months later and mamma is hanging on like a champ! Yes, her kidneys are still failing and it will ultimately be her demise. It sucks but that’s just the deal. But, after having some gnarly teeth removed and getting spayed, mamma has gained weight and is ready to live out whatever time she has left to the fullest.

She loves cuddling, taking walks, enjoys the company of other dogs and is the most grateful rescue we’ve ever met. She is SO HAPPyY to be loved and well cared for and she reminds you of it constantly- rubbing on you, giving kisses.. she does have a deformity on her front leg- BUT it does not affect her - she stills runs and plays in the yard and takes walks.

We are looking for a furever hospice foster or adopter for mamma. We will supply her with her food, medicine and pre-approved, kidney-related vet care (with our vet) for the rest of her life. She just needs a retirement home. Someone to love her and make whatever time she has left- it could be months or years, we just don’t know- the absolute best it can be. *** must be within an hour or two of Carson city. We will need her to continue to use our vet and we would really like to be there for Jolene when her time is up.
