Here's what the humans have to say about me:
TOO CUTE FOR WORDS!!!! This companionable Prince charming is a darling (very spoiled) small, (9 pound) Maltese; with a pure white, non-shedding coat. His previous owner was unable to care for him. Prince arrived at the Safehouse on Sunday (05/19/19), peeing blood, he was rushed to VCA Aurora Specialty Services on Monday and underwent lifesaving cystotomy and castration surgery on Tuesday. His recovery was uneventful and he is now healthy and ready to shower everyone he meets with affection, expecting a good dose in return. We were told by his owner that Prince is 13 years old but several veterinarians who have examined him agree that he is no more than 8-9 years old so we have reinterpreted his date of birth to 10/05/2010 (with a life span of 11 to 13 years, that’s just middle age). Prince obviously came from a loving home; charming, cheerful, socialized and move-in ready. Well mannered yet animated, Prince is satisfied with playful frolics and daily walks. Adaptable, bright and eager to please (well . . . to be honest . . . he can be quite stubborn!!). Housetrained, walks well on a leash, loves collecting and playing with soft fuzzy toys, really enjoys doggy treats and snuggles!! He wants to be with you but can play quietly if you’re not around. He is friendly around other dogs his size, cats are an unknown. Although typically friendly around people, he reacts intensely when grabbed at by strangers and can be injured with rough play or accidental drops so an adult home or one with older (middle school) children is warranted. Prince is on a restricted veterinary diet to control the development of renal calculi (stones); but don’t let that stop you from welcoming this devoted little dog into your home and heart. With proper nutrition and regular veterinary checkups, Prince can enjoy a long and healthy life. Prince is neutered, has a microchip, is current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and has had a complete physical. His adoption fee is $300.
