My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruby Sue - wow, this is one AB FAB puppy girl with quite the story to tell. She came from an animal shelter and was covered in mange. At that time, she had lost nearly all her hair and was covered in scabs. Poor thing. But that's all in the past. Ruby is now ~14-15 months old and weighs ~28 lbs.

Ruby's foster family says she is your typical playful puppy, but she's not super hyper. She enjoys having a human companion and definitely likes going for walks, but she's not a bounce-off-the-wall kind of girl. She is very sweet, very relaxed around people, happy-go-lucky, and super duper cuddly. She has lived in a foster home with 4 children that she absolutely adored. She is mostly crate trained (does cry at first but does settle down) & leash trained. She is still a puppy, so she sometimes wants to test her boundaries. Her foster family has hosted many a pup in their tenure and they put Ruby Sue near the top of their foster list. So, yep, she's just that good of a girl. Ruby Sue has also decided she would rather be the only pet in the home. She has trust issues when it comes to other animal companions. She is also a bit hard of hearing, but not totally deaf. She may need an extra slight tap to gain her attention, but other than that, she's super easy to manage. Her lack of hearing makes her less barky at strange noises, if you have many. Ruby Sue is already spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Don't you want to add her to your home?

If you are interested in adopting Ruby Sue, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform2.shtml . Ruby Sue 's adoption fee is $300. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Ruby Sue will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
