ADOPION WILL BE FOR THE GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA ONLY
Hi my name is Hanna and I came to KCSR the latter part of December 2018 as a special needs puppy. That’s right, I was born 9/26/18 without a left hip socket and ball and a curved Femur which makes my left leg a little shorter than my right leg. KCSR has had me at an Orthopedic Vet keeping a watchful eye on my progress over the months. I am proud to say that I am stable and do not have to face surgery on my leg to fix anything since my hips are aligned, there is no bone on bone pain and my knee cap has made its own special home on my leg. For now it is fine though I may face ACL surgery in my future on that knee. You will notice that I use the tip of my left paw to walk on… this is keeping my hips properly aligned. Outside of this quirkiness of mine I am a normal puppy that loves to play and I don’t let my leg slow me down!
My foster mom says I don’t know a stranger and I love to play with everyone… human or animal, cats are a mystery… though I believe everyone is my friend. She also says I am an unusual Sheltie as I have all kinds of confidence and that thunderstorms don’t bother me… though what little Fireworks I have experienced, well… let’s say I don’t like them. I love going places and riding in the car… it is so much fun though I usually go to sleep after a bit!
I am alert and will make a great watch dog since little gets past me though I will hush up when asked to with a little woof… woof, as protest! I am house broken and will let you know I need to go outside. I am also kennel trained and love to curl up there for the night in my snuggle bed or if you would let me I would probably sleep curled up next to you. Yep, I like to cuddle and love going to sleep in a warm lap or right next to you on the sofa. I am also opinionated and will talk to you… love chewing on bully bones, my toys, playing with bubbles, chasing the laser light and just being silly with you.
I know the commands… sit, down, leave it and wait… wait is to make certain I don’t bolt out the door and it is a very important lesson to keep me safe. I walk on leash though I am told I am still unfocussed since I walk circles around my foster mom… really, I am just excited to be out in the world!!!
I am 14 lbs. at 9 months of age.
Small female with a delicate frame.
Recently spayed 6/13/19.
Would love a family with older children or maybe another small dog close to my age and size to play with since I am so active… a larger dog may end up accidentally hurting my leg.
Adoption will stay in the greater Kansas City Metropolitan area…MO/KS.
A secure fenced in yard is a must with no areas that I can squeeze through.
If you are truly interested in adopting me knowing I may be facing an expensive surgery in my future… then please come visit me at the 75th Street Petco close to Metcalf on the 1st Sunday of the month from 11am to 1pm and the 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month from 10am to 12pm.
