Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Phoebe came to us as part of Ugly Mutts International Project. She was originally rescued after she was found along the side of the road after having been hit by a car, or dumped. She did have a broken arm but it has been fixed and she is in great health now. She is a sweet, calm and loving dog who will do well in just about any family situation. She loves kids and is fine with other friendly dogs and would make a great family pet. Phoebe is approximately 1.6 - 2 years old and currently weighs 48 lbs.
Here is what Phoebe's foster family had to say about her:
Phoebe is a sweetheart. She is a bit shy at first, but she is friendly with everyone that she meets – men, women, kids and other dogs. She is a great family dog, and would make a wonderful addition to any family! Phoebe appears to be in good general health and we have not observed any health issues with her. She is low to moderate energy. Inside the house she is happy to lie around and nap in the same room as you. Outside she is curious and playful and will happily play and wrestle with her foster sister (our dog). Although she doesn’t seem to be the one to initiate the play wrestling, she is happy to participate. We would guess that she is about 2 years old. She is definitely past the puppy stage, and she seems to be a young, healthy dog. So far we have not noticed much shedding with Phoebe. She has a very nice, healthy, shiny coat. She will most likely turn out to be a low to moderate shedder.
Phoebe has been friendly with everyone she has met. She is shy, but is not fearful of either men or women, and warms up easily. She is good with our kids, ages 6-13, and I think she would be fine with kids that are younger than 6 and with older adults, as she is quite a calm girl. She does occasionally jump up on us, but she is a very slight girl and is unlikely to really knock anyone over. Phoebe has not exhibited any signs of aggression. We think Phoebe will be fine to live with another dog, but they will have to be properly introduced and supervised the first few days as they work out their pack hierarchy. Our dog is a similar size to Phoebe, and they play really well together. Phoebe has met a few neighbourhood dogs on our walks and has been friendly towards dogs of all different sizes. Phoebe has not been tested with cats.
Phoebe is quiet and content and can safely be left uncrated, as we have not noticed her getting into anything she shouldn’t, She is not a chewer and she has not destroyed or damaged anything in our home. Although Phoebe is not an overly anxious dog, she does show some signs of a past where people have not been kind to her. She will briefly flinch and cower when someone raises their hand (expecting to be hit?) and will back up if you approach her too quickly. We believe that this will stop with time, as she comes to trust her family and learn that they will not hurt her. Phoebe likes to be with the family, lie in the sun in the backyard, play with other dogs, and go for walks. Phoebe is a very calm and quiet girl in the home.
Phoebe is not a chewer and she doesn’t really try to jump up on the furniture. She has picked up and moved a few socks and stuffed toys around the house, but did not chew or destroy them. She is curious about food, and will put her paws on the table or counter if she sees or smells something up there, but will get right down if told “no”. She has not stolen any food yet, but would probably take it if left alone with something yummy on the table. She does not seem to know any basic commands, but this could, of course, be a language barrier. Phoebe has not had any accidents in the house. She is taken out on a predictable schedule and seems to do fine with that. Phoebe was in a crate the first day we had her. She went in willingly and didn’t complain. After the first day she has been allowed free reign of the house, during the day and at night. She is in her crate when everyone is out of the house, however, as is our own dog. She does well in the crate but can also be trusted out of the crate on her own.
Phoebe does not pull on her leash and walks very nicely beside you or slightly in front of you. Even if she were to pull on the leash, she is a very slight girl and would have a hard time overpowering anyone. My 6 year old daughter is able to walk her without issue. She does not try to escape from the yard or the front door. Phoebe is happy to be with her people, and does not want to run away from us. She has not been tested off leash for recall, however. Phoebe does not like to get into the car, but once she is lifted in there she is fine. She stays in the spot you put her, whether it’s the back of the car or the seat beside you and rides with you calmly.
Phoebe is a sweet, shy girl who would love nothing more than to be part of a loving family. She is calm, affectionate and playful. She will do well with any family that is willing to show her kindness and love. She is calm enough for a family with young kids or older adults living in the home. She is young and playful and would get along well with another dog, but we feel she would be just as happy in a family as the only pet if she was getting lots of love and attention from her humans. She is just a lovely girl looking for a family to love and be loved by.
