My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Apollo is an adorable little 9 year old yorkie boy who weighs only 7 lbs. Apollo is being fostered in Jacksonville, FL.

UPDATED BIO 07/17/2019: Apollo here - I wanted to let my fans know that I am looking for a quiet adult home with someone home most of the time. I do not do well with children, so no children for me please. I like to be near my person and especially enjoy cuddles and belly rubs. I walk well on a leash and continue to get better each day. I am house-trained and will use puppy pads if unable to go out. And listen to this - I am also a good alarm clock. I will wake you in the morning so I can go outside and do my business. I enjoy having a fenced yard so I can run around and play and go potty, but this would just be a bonus and is not required to be approved to adopt me. I enjoy most toys - especially the chew things, balls and whatever I can get ahold of! I think you get the picture. I will even retrieve my toys if I can convince you to throw them for me. One important thing - - my adoptive family needs to know up front that I prefer not to share my toys.

I may like a small playmate as long as they are willing to share you with me. When I first came to my foster home, I did not like sharing Foster Mom with the other fur kids and wanted all the attention. However, Foster Mom helped me learn that it is okay to share time with my person. The toys are another situation – did I say I don’t like to share my toys? I'm very smart and know my basic obedience commands (sit, down, come, high 5). I was very good sitting on Foster Mom's lap when she used her special chair at the store. I tolerate car rides and eventually settle down, though I get anxious at the start. Would you like me to be your forever companion?

NOTE FROM FOSTER MOM: Apollo's preferred home should have at least one stay-at-home adult with NO children in the home and/or who are frequent visitors. Apollo will do best in a quiet, calm environment with lots of attention and toys. He does bark with new and unusual sounds but adjusts over time and repetition of the sound until he gets familiar with it. Apollo likes attention and if you have one or two small dogs willing to share you with him, then he may be the perfect companion you are seeking. Cats are not his favorite, but if given the time to adjust, he may be just fine with them.

UPDATED BIO 07/03/2019: Apollo has settled in to his calm, quiet lifestyle since his arrival at his foster home. Foster Mom reports that he is getting along well with his foster fur-brother and is slowly getting better at interacting with the resident cat. He had a few potty accidents initially; but will let her know when he needs to go out and will use pee-pee pads. He continues to bark at new and unusual sounds, but stops once he gets familiar with the sound. Apollo is frightened of storms, especially the ones that have accompanying noises. He eats very well and certainly enjoys his treats.

Here’s what Apollo had to say recently:

Apollo here. I wanted to let you know that I am looking for a quiet adult home with someone home most of the time. I do not do well with children, so please - no children in my adoptive home. I like to be near my person and I really enjoy cuddles and belly rubs. I walk well on a leash, but need more practice to get better. I enjoy having a fenced yard so I can run around and play and do my business – this would be a bonus in my new home, but not a deal-breaker.

I love toys, especially those squeaky ones, along with chew things, balls, etc. I think you get the picture. I will even retrieve my toys if I can convince you to throw them for me. You need to know that I don't like to share my toys, so I need to be the only dog so I am sure to get all the attention. I am very smart and know my basic obedience commands (sit, down, come). I was very good sitting on Foster Mom’s lap when she used her special chair at the store. I like to ride in the car and although I may be a little squirmy at first, I will settle down until we get to our destination. I would love to be your special companion.

NOTE FROM FOSTER MOM: Apollo's preferred home is one in which he has a stay-at-home parent. He will do best in a quiet, calm environment with lots of attention and toys. He does bark with new and unusual sounds, but adjusts over time and repetition. Apollo needs to be an only dog as he doesn’t like to share his person. Cats are not his favorite and he may need time to adjust to them. He will reward you with lots of love and cuddles.

UPDATED BIO 06/22/2019: Apollo has been in his foster home a week now; since his arrival, he has settled in to a calm, quiet lifestyle. He will let foster mom know when he needs to go out and will use puppy pads. He continues to bark at new and unusual sounds, but stops once he gets familiar with the sound.

Apollo likes toys - especially squeaky toys - and prefers to not share. He likes to be near his person and enjoys cuddles and belly rubs. He does good on a leash and enjoys having a fenced yard, but not required. His preferred home should be an adult only home with someone home most of the time. He does not do well with children so a home with no children is required. He prefers to be an only dog for all the attention and he will need time to adjust to cats. He will do best in a quiet, calm environment, but not a fan of thunderstorms.
