Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MiMi is Adopted
MiMi is currently being fostered in Mentor OHIO, and her adoption fee is minimal to an approved adopter, capable and experienced to handle her issues.
MiMi is a 5 yr old female American Eskimo that came to our rescue from a puppy mill.
She is not a well socialized dog, at all, in fact she came to us completely shut down emotionally.
MiMi has been with us in her foster home for about 3 months now.
She has definitely made some improvements emotionally, however she is no where near where she needs to be.
She runs from humans, barks at them, tries at all costs to keep her distance when humans are near.
She does not EVER get aggressive, she has never even curled her lip or anything, she is completely non aggressive.
She lived in her crate 24/7 in the beginning weeks of being in a foster home, and still uses it often for comfort, when she wants to hide from the humans in the house, BUT she is coming out on her own more and more as time goes by.
We have cameras set up in the home so that we can watch the dogs from work to check on them. When no one is home, she is out of her crate ALL the time, she is playing with the other dogs, running, jumping, acting completely like a normal dog.
If we didn’t have the recordings to see it, we probably wouldn’t believe it!!
She immediately reverts to the crate as soon as a human comes home.
She allows handling if forced into it.
You can reach into her crate and pull her out, carry her, pet her, put her on the sofa, or in bed with you, but she is emotionally not comfortable with it yet.
You have to force her to engage in human contact, otherwise she would stay in her crate out of fear.
MiMi is DEFINITELY not for just any adopter, she is SPECIAL NEEDS, and needs an adopter experienced and able to handle her, and continue working with her.
Most importantly, she MUST HAVE A SECURED FENCED YARD TO KEEP HER SAFE!! NO EXCEPTIONS HERE.
If she was to get loose, she would be uncatchable, she is FAST, and will bolt out of fear, this can not happen!!
ALL precautions need to be in place at all times for her safety. She is a mill dog with emotional trauma that is severe, an adopter must understand her needs.
MiMi is also NOT housetrained, it was about 2 months before we could put her out in the fenced yard for fear she might leap the fence and attempt to escape.
She is now going out the door with the other dogs, as well as coming back in the door on her own.
This is MAJOR PROGRESS for her!!
She is also sleeping in bed all night long with her foster, and appears comfortable enough when sleeping at night outside of her crate.
If you know this breed well, and/or have experience working with mill dogs, and have the secure fenced yard she needs, then you could be her forever home IF you are willing.
MiMi is spayed, and up to date on all vaccines, including a negative heartworm status. She had a dental and is Microchipped
