My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Sage! I am 4 years old and soon to be the love of your life! My foster mom says everyone that meets me falls in love. My first owners never socialized me with other dogs properly, buckily my current foster mom is a dog trainer and behavior specialist and has been helping me learn “how to dog.” I play really well with my medium-sized foster sister and I want to play with my little-sized foster sister but she gets a little scared because I’m so strong. My foster mom says I am the most perfect dog in the world, the only thing is that I am very protective of her. This especially comes into play with my medium-sized foster sister. I just want to make sure she listens to our mom and I don’t like when she gets too excited especially around toys. I have tried to put her in her place a couple of times now; our mom doesn’t like it even though I’m just trying to help. To be honest, I’m more of a people person than a dog person. I can have a future dog sibling but I am dog selective. I would do best with a dog sibling that either has low energy or can play when I want, but is very respectful of my space. I would need a slooooowwwww introduction (my foster mom can help). I do okay around cats, but my foster mom wouldn’t trust me alone with them. I also do the best with older kids. Little ones just have way to much energy for me. I love snuggling up next to you, putting my head on your lap, stealing your spot on the couch (even though my mom doesn’t let me on the sofa; I still get one when she’s not looking). I get a little nervous around storms but with my bed away from windows, you in the room, and a blanket over me, and I’ll be okay! My foster mom LOVES that I have never destroyed anything and I am proud of that too! I am potty trained and will let you know when I have to go (also when I’m really hungry). I walk really well on leash and would do great on a hike if I continue my training. I also know sit, lay down, paw, place, & leave it! My foster mom loves me so much she is willing to give my next family a free training session. I would LOVE to stay either in the Chattanooga or Nashville area. That way I can still see my foster mom from time to time (I love her so much) and she can continue my training for free!
