Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Teejay, available for immediate adoption through Fur the Love of PAWS Rescue!
🤗 HERE'S THE SCOOP
Every once in awhile, when are are able, we like to help Euth listed shelter dogs in different areas.
Teejay here was on the Euthansia list for "medical" At Witchita Animal Shelter - for his eye. We fell in love when we saw his picture and even more in love with him when he arrived here ❤️
Teejay had eye Entropion, which he had surgery for here after he arrived from Kansas. He's all healed up and he won't have anymore issues there. Absolutely no reason to end his life and we were so glad to be able to pull him off that E list.
🏡 FAMILY GOALS!
To know Teejay is to love him!
He's a big squishy loveug! Loves to cuddle and loves car rides. Loves to go on walks. He listen's very well! He knows sit, shake, and allllmost rollover. Lol.
He has a slight 'jumping up on new people' issue, but his foster Mom, Cindi Hill, (Thanks Cindi Hill! ,) has been working diligently with him on this and his new family will need to also continue working with him on it. He gets a little exited with new people but calms down quickly. He also has a little "talky growl" when meeting new people but then in about 10 SECONDS, he's your best friend.
He's actually a pretty chill dog in his foster home.
🏃🏼 Older kids.
If you have kids, we are looking for a home with older respectful kids, no rough housing because he can get overly amped up, which can lead to really bad unwanted behavior. Little kids, toddlers and baby's we are unsure on. We have none to test him with. He could definitely could knock a toddler over, and he has an extra long whipping tail that could bonk a little one.
🐕 Good with dogs. We just have to find the right match. Teejay could be fine being the only dog. His love for people is stronger than love from a dog friend. He's been in his foster home with his temp brother Duke for over two weeks and has done fine. Duke is a super social, love every dog, dog park friendly dog. Duke is also laid back and kind of, shall I say, "whatever dude" with other dogs. 😂 If you have other dogs, that personality type is what will be the best fit for Teejay. Teejay is not a dog park dog. He also gets to amped up when he see's other dogs, just because he doesn't know if they want to be friend or foe.
🐈 No cats for Teejay.
Here comes the semi complicated part.... Teejay has allergies, as many of this breed typically do. We can't keep him in foster forever until we 100% know what's going to work for him best, because it will take some trial and error to determine. We are working to determine if the allergies are environmental, food or both. And that takes some time.
Right now, we are trying different things - a high quality specialty food and he's on Apoquil. Over time, we will do some tweaking to pinpoint what exactly the allergy is.
Here's the plus side! We are here for our dogs for life, Always and forever. When we find his approved home (we are hoping is one that knows about allergies and this breed), we will help financially until we can figure out with the help of his new family, what's going to work best for him. We just need to find him the perfect home, and we will work alongside that family to solve his allergy issues, together! Please don't shy away from him because of this. He is such a good boy!
▪️House trained and crate trained but he is also fine to be left free roam.
▪️Teejay doesn't require alot of exercise but he does love his walks and a fenced yard to run around and sniff in.
▪️A fenced yard is required. He is in a 6 foot wood fence now. If you have a short chain link sharing with neighbors with dogs, that's not going to work unless the neighboring dogs could care less about other dogs, as he would probably fence fight.
▪️He would do best in a quieter home with few visitors.
▪️New family must be able to afford vet care such as future vaccinations, heartworm/flea tick prevention and whatever else comes up his entire life.
