Jordy Joe has made one of the most remarkable transformations! 😍
On March 29th, Jordy came into the city shelter as a stray who was trapped North East of town. When a cat comes in as trapped, I always take my time with them at the shelter. Sometimes it can mean they are feral and other times, just scared to bits. I was happy to learn that Jordy wasn't feral and let me examine him.
I found out he was an intact male and super sweet... I also learned he was matted from head to toe and in serious pain. Matting of this caliber means that he had been on his own for awhile, or that his coat had been completely ignored by his previous caretaker. It's hard to say. But this doesn't happen over night and it would have never ever resolved on its own. Breaks my heart to think of all those matted animals out there... it's like some holding your head with one hand and pulling your hair with the other - continuously. With no relief. Never ending.
I set Jordy up with a sedation shave at the vet (and a neuter since he'd be under anyways), but he had to wait over a weekend because this was a Friday.
Initially, I was just going to help him get cleaned up and then return him to the shelter, because we were full. But then two things happened - we had two adoptions over that weekend and on Monday April 1 when he came for his haircut - I fell head over heels for him. :) He was so shy and sweet, and once the hair was gone you could see just how severe it had been. He had sores and was very underweight... He needed to be a FUR cat. So a FUR cat he became. ❤️

Jordy has been with us since April 3rd and we have watched him go from a sad, shy, sleepy nekkid kitty cat to a happy, vibrant, handsome boy! He is so grateful and loving, he is just fantastically filled with joy, jumps and fun.
Jordy took a few weeks to start showing us his personality, but now - he is full of character! Now, he loves to play, where at first he wouldn't even look at a toy. Now, he loves canned food, where at first he wouldn't even taste it. Now, he loves looking out the window, where at first he was scared to death of the outside world. Jordy has truly blossomed into a great cat and is now ready for his forever home.

Jordy is pretty versatile cat. He would do great in a family setting, busy or not. He loves to be loved so if you are looking for a super snuggly, affectionate, sleep in bed with you cat - Jordy is the one for you. If you prefer more independent cats, he is NOT the cat for you. He loves to be around people, near people, with people and helping people. He loves to be combed, kissed, and loves to be in your lap and in your arms. Jordy would not do well in a one person home. He likes to be underfoot so can be a trip hazard at times, but that will likely subside as he adjusts and his separation fears reduce.
He is super ready to have a family and home to call his own, so we hope they come fast!
