Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi I’m Loki. I came to my foster home with my sister Lexi. I am a very handsome tri- color 20lb. beagle. Being just 10 months old I have a lot of energy, my favorite thing to do is run around outside so I do need a fenced yard. I am a great watchdog, and use my beagle bark frequently to alert my foster mom of people and dogs walking by in front of the window. I wouldn’t be good in an apartment since I can be quite loud at times. I have that wonderful AWWWRROOOO sound and I always make people smile when they see me.
I am house trained, and will go to the door when I need to do my business. My foster mom gives me the run of the first floor since I don’t get into anything bad. I just like to chew on a bully stick or sit in the window. I love going on walks, but I do pull when I get the scent of something good. Sniffing is my specialty: there are so many new things to explore. When I’m outside in the backyard I love to chase the birds and squirrels, and sometimes I dig a hole or two.
I am good with other dogs, and I would really like to have a buddy to run and play with. I am a little shy when I first meet you, but give me a few minutes and will sit on your lap giving you lots of kisses. My foster sister calls me “Mr. Massagey” because I love love love getting massages. I am also great with the kids I have met at the park especially when they give me treats.
I sleep throughout the night curled up in my crate, but I do not like being in a crate during the day. My foster mom and dad are retired, so I am not alone very much of the day. When they do leave me to run errands I get a little anxious and bark for them to come back, so I would not like being home alone for hours at a time.
I am working so hard on my manners, I do jump up when I get excited, but I know how to sit on command. I need a lot more practice respecting boundaries especially when food is around. My foster mom says I am a sweet and very smart beagle boy who would love an active family to call my own.
UPDATE 06/06/19: Loki had surgery for a cherry eye on April 18th. He is being seen by a veterinarian ophthalmologist for follow up, and is healing up nicely. He gets an eye ointment administered a few times a day, which he sits nicely for and doesn’t mind. This will be tapered off in the next two months. There is a possibility that he might need eye drops and or monitoring of his eye in the future.
NOTE: Dogs may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.
