Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I'm Raina, my foster mom says I'm the pretty one. I'm a 7-month old 35-pound mix who came to IL from TN with my siblings about a month ago. I have been living in a foster home with my sister and a new foster brother who is quite a bit larger than I am but I am learning how to hold my own in a fun game of chase. I am a bit scared of new people and places and you will see me trying to hide or get as close to the ground as I possibly can. I am working on my trust issues, especially tall men with deep voices. Good news is I love the kids in my house who are between 5 and 12.. They are so nice and play with me. My foster mom says I am a great snuggler and I do admit I would prefer to be very close to her at all times. If someone in the house yells I think I did something wrong and I don't like that.
I have learned to go potty outside and on a regular schedule don't have any accidents. I will sleep in my crate at night but I have never been without my sister so it may take a little while to get used to being alone. I like being outside and can lay on the grass sniffing the air for as long as you will let me. The leash is not my favorite mostly because there are so many things going on. If something gets my attention I stop in my tracks and if I get spooked I will begin my very impressive army crawl. We are working on learning and I am sure with more practice I will figure it out.
I like other dogs and greets them with a wagging tail when on walks. I do think I would prefer a low key friend or being the only dog so I don't have to compete for your attention. Schedule an appointment with me so we can get to know each other. I am ready to find my forever home.
Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.
Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.
Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.
We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.
Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
