My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zoey is a sweet natured 2 yr old black female with natural ears and a docked tail. Zoey was regrettably surrendered to our program due to financial reasons. She shared her previous home with her loving human mom, kids and a kitty. Zoey is a girl of moderation and balance. She is equal amounts of sweet and sassy, a perfect combination! She is very loving toward her foster parents and follows them everywhere they go. Like a true female Doberman, she is very quick to let them know when her needs are not being met. She "talks" on a daily basis by jabbering and sassing when she feels as if her humans aren't giving her enough attention. She has a voice and isn't afraid to use it.

We would gauge her energy level as moderate. She does tend to get restless if she doesn't get her daily walk, but she isn't overly hyper in the house. Zoey does LOVE her walks! She gets so excited when she sees the leashes come out and is happiest when she is out and about. We have noticed that she is slow to warm up to new certain people. She will happily greet some strangers, but there are some instances where she has absolutely zero interest in being around someone new. She does a great job of letting her humans know though when she is feeling anxious. Her foster parents read her signs and don't force her into situations where is she not 100% comfortable. Her tell tale signs: she will tuck her tail, raise her hackles, and stick close to her human's legs when she is cared or unsure.

Zoey does love couch snuggles but if no one else is hanging out on the couch, she likes to have a dog bed in whatever room her humans are in so she can be close by, yet cozy. She loves running around in her fenced back yard and is very quick to let neighboring dogs know it is "her" yard (she barks at them...... a lot). She would love a dog sibling! She really enjoys playing with other dogs, preferably a dog with energy level that is similar to hers. We have noticed she doesn't love really hyper dogs. If not a dog, a playful cat could also work! She desperately wishes her foster cat would play with her but he has no interest in adopting a canine sibling.
Overall, she is an easy dog and a lovely house guest. She's velcro, but not too velcro. Playful, but not overly playful. Loving, but not needy. Sassy, but not a brat. She’s just a really good girl :)
