Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Let's get this great senior girl a home!!! Ruby will steal your heart! We found Ruby mentally and physically shutting down in our local animal shelter. A shelter is no place for any cat but ESPECIALLY a gentle kind senior kitty :( She had a severe foul-smelling infection draining from her left ear and was not eating well. She was immediately brought to our clinic for help and she received fluids, vitamins, medications, and sent home with a loving caring foster parent. It took her many weeks to come out of her shell from the emotional trauma of being dumped at the shelter. She is doing fantastic now!!! Ruby has been tested for FeLV, FIV, and heartworms and her tests are all negative. She has already been spayed (left ear tip). We estimate her age to be approximately 8 years.
Ruby is a tortoiseshell tabby. We think Ruby has been an inside cat for many years, but that she was given up due to the ear infection. This is one of those sad situations where we find senior kitties sent to shelters.
She is kind and sweet and loves for her head and ear area to be scratched ALL the time. We are still working on the best diet for her and it looks like she may do best with a water fountain possibly to maximize her water intake (common in senior cats), but right now we are just showing her what a home is like again.
Update: Last month Ruby was sent to a surgical specialist and she had an ear polyp successfully removed, and she is doing fantastic! She is outgoing now and so extremely happy living in a home with other pets. Her foster has been outstanding and she is very loved.
Ruby needs a loving home. Please give her a quiet peaceful loving place to be. Please contact us if interested, we are not putting Ruby into the adoption boxes at PetSmart, she needs a direct adoption into a home. No more boxes for Ruby!!! :)
We certainly have spent over $1500 in medical procedures, medications for Ruby, and we have raised $335 toward her care as of late November. Even if you don't adopt Ruby and you read this story, please share the story and help us recover our costs so we can continue to pull out challenging cases like hers.
