Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hugo is a miniature poodle found abandoned in Lake Chabot Park. Dusty Paws Rescue pulled him into foster care from the East County shelter. He is a sweet boy with a wonderful disposition, in good overall health with one problem - he is blind.
Hugo is a smart, very adaptable dog - friendly, sweet and adventurous. Inside he moves slowly and cautiously so as not to bump too hard into anything and he needs a little supervision going up and down stairs, but is otherwise independent navigating his foster home. He is house trained; his foster parents take him for walks and let him out every few hours during the day. He enjoys sunning in the yard and loves going on walks.
Hugo is excellent meeting people. He might startle if someone came upon him unexpectedly, but is never aggressive. He is happy to meet other dogs as well.
Hugo likes company. He enjoys sitting in your lap and being held and is a great car traveler. Whoever adopts him will need to let him sleep in the same room with them at night. Although not a needy dog, Hugo feels safest not being alone and is happy just to know you are in the vicinity.
Hugo has been neutered and is current on vaccinations. His age is estimated as 5 years and at present he weighs 11 1/2 lbs. He is scheduled for an eye appointment to determine if anything can be done for his vision, as he does seem to be somewhat aware of light.
