This handsome boy is Beau! Don't let his pictures fool you, he looks small but he is actually an 80 pound tank. He also happens to be a very mellow and affectionate guy who thinks he is a lap dog. Beau was found as a stray, but it is obvious he had a good home at some point because he is fully housetrained and great with other dogs and all people.
Beau is very strong, and when he feels like playing, he can knock you right off your feet. Most of the time though, he is a big couch potato who loves nothing more than crawling up on the couch and taking a nap. He is the sweetest dog! He listens very well and he absolutely adores the other dogs in his foster home and every dog he meets. He snores when he is napping, which makes his foster family giggle, and he won't hesitate to climb right on top of you if you happen to be laying in bed or on the couch. He loves to go for walks and jumps to attention when he sees a leash. He enjoys tug of war and playing with
Beau is in perfect health, but the shelter veterinarian diagnosed him with Grade 2 Patellar Luxation which is like a "trick knee", so surgery and/or arthritis may be in his future. There are many non-surgical treatments available as well, and as nothing bothers him right now and he has no lameness whatsoever (he runs around with other dogs and plays normally), his foster family has started him on joint supplements and a daily exercise of walking up and down the steps several times a day.
Beau is 2 years old and weighs 80 pounds (most of which is muscle). He is one of the easiest and best dogs his foster family has ever welcomed into their home. He is up to date on all his shots, neutered, housetrained, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is crate trained, but he is left uncrated and free in the house with the other dogs for 8 hours at a time, and he is perfectly behaved. He looks intimidating but has a beautiful and soft personality, and would fit perfectly into most families. If you are interested in adopting Beau, please fill out an application and his foster mom will be in touch!
