My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SPECIAL NEEDS! I need VERY SLOW INTRODUCTIONS to new people. If you are an experienced and patient dog owner, I'm the guy for you! I was at the Sacramento SPCA for 1.5 months and was terrified of the unknown. Now that I am out of there, I am becoming more comfortable and am working on gaining some confidence. The first thing that I normally do when being approached by my foster mom and uncle is roll over on my back for belly rubs. I will also do a happy dance when they talk to me. I have become very fond of my foster uncle and love to just hang out with him. I am smart and a people pleaser so should be easy to train. Despite the fact that I was kept chained up outside 24/7, I am crate and house-trained (I use a doggie door), know "sit" and "stay" and LOVE going for car rides. I lived with a 9 year old child but I would do best in a home with older or no children due to my fearfulnes. Although I am currently living with other dogs, I prefer to be the only dog. I would do best in a home with a yard to run in. I have not been cat tested yet.

Go meet their pets

We are currently holding events at the Folsom PetSmart at 2705 East Bidwell next to the Home Depot on some Saturdays. Please check our Facebook Page or contact us to inquire as to whether we will be there in advance as we do not hold events every Saturday. If you are unable to attend, we can schedule a meet and greet.

More about this rescue

Kimie's Kritters Pet Rescue was started because I, Kim Scherer, was retired as a California Peace Officer and wanted to do something in my retirement that I was passionate about and that is to help animals. I took an Animal Health class. During this course, I volunteered for various animal rescues and shelters. When networking for the shelters, I saw animals that languished whom I wanted to help, but I was unable to. I enlisted the help of other like-minded individuals for the Board and we started our own 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Kimie's Kritters Pet Rescue pulls rescue-listed animals from shelters throughout the State of California and owner surrenders.
