My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am BIG personality (and LOVE) in a SMALL package! I also have earned many nicknames with my funny sense of humor. Most often I am called Quarter Pounder with Cheese or QPC, but also Little Bit. And I am so adorable (even if I say so myself). I am an insistent lap dog and cuddler, so if you don't want a constant companion, I am not the right dog for you. I like other dogs (although I do insist on my way) and ALL people. I'm very friendly and will go to great lengths to gain the attention of any guest. I'm a good, quiet office dog. My foster mom sometimes works at home and I have her trained to hold me on her lap while she is at her desk. I am very food motivated so I'm easy to train to do things, too. I have a strong prey drive, so I should not be in a home with any small pets like guinea pigs or birds -- I will never never forget where those are. I like toys and soft blankies and sleeping in the bed.
About a year ago, I became paralyzed in the rear legs (due to IVDD, a genetic condition common in dachshunds), but that doesn't slow me down one tiny bit! My foster mom says that I have the determined sort of dachshund temperament that makes my disability even less of an issue than it is for many dachshunds. My foster mom can teach you all about how to take care of me. It isn't hard or time-consuming, it's just different. She wrote a book about IVDD with a veterinarian if you're interested. Honey, Have You Squeezed the Dachshund?

If you are interested in adopting Pippi, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform2.shtml . Pippi 's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Pippi will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
