Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Stella. Stella is a spayed, female, 1.5 yo Border Collie mix. She may look full grown, but she still very much a puppy at heart. She loves toys, and she loves to run and play. Regardless of the weather, it's hard to keep Stella out of the pool. When the pool is unavailable to her, she has been known to play in the water bowl. Stella is a dog's dog, little dogs, big dogs, young dogs, old dogs - Stella is happiest when there is another dog around. She is very, very smart, as most BCs are, and will do best in an active home built around structure and consistency. While Stella may not need regular visits to a dog groomer, she will shed a lot, especially in the spring and summer months, and she is prone to matts in her beautiful coat so regular brushing will be a lifelong requirement (3x per week, minimum). Border Collies are active dogs and Stella is no exception, she will not do well in a home where she is left alone for long hours everyday. Stella can be a wonderful family dog, but she will never lose the urge to herd; to a dog like Stella, young children are just two-legged sheep. For that reason, homes with very young children without dog experience will not be considered. Border Collie experience a plus. Unfortunately, Stella's former family encouraged her to chase the cats that trespassed into their yard, so when she sees a cat, she gets excited for the potential chase. We would only be willing to consider homes with cats possessing a very specific temperament; scardy cats and Stella are simply not a good mix. Stella is crate trained and potty trained, and uses the dog door in her foster home with enthusiasm. Stella's adoption fee includes up to date vaccinations, deworming, microchip, current flea/tick preventative, and her spay. She is fostered in Merced, Ca with other dogs, cats and children.
