My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** FANTASTIC FAMILY DOG !! ***
"CHARLEMAGNE" (aka "Charcoal" or "Char") is calm, easy-going, gentle 1.5 yr old, 90 lb. Labrador Retriever mix we rescued from a very high kill pound. Good with children; Responds go both physical & verbal praise; treat motivated; No food aggression; Quick to learn daily routine' Eager to please; Very easy going/goes with flow; Very deep voice when he talks and barks.

From his foster Momma: "My name is Charlemagne, but my foster family likes to call me "Char" or "Charcoal" (it's easier for the little ones to remember). I may be almost 90 pounds but, I like to think of myself as the five pound lap dog you’ve always wanted. I know I am a big guy, but, on the inside I’m just one big baby. I love my four now five now foster human sibling. She is my favorite. I love greeting her each morning for a big hug because I really like loves. I do really well at meal time, my foster sister dog and I have really great manners and there is no fussing at the food bowls. I am also great at outside potty time, no mess for my foster mom to clean up! When I’m ready for alone time I just crawl in my kennel for a little nap. I’ve learned our routine really well too. I know that when my foster mom grabs her purse it’s time to kennel up and I will see her when she returns. I love to listen about you and your day and I love to talk about my day too. Sometimes I can be a little stubborn but, I learn the rules as quick as I can. Some rules confuse me though. I mean, who doesn’t love standing in the kitchen just in case something falls on the floor? One of my favorite things to play is tug of war. I’m not a great ball player yet but, I’ll try for a minute or so. I love long walks and checking out new places too."
CHAR is neutered, de-wormed, micro-chipped, is current on vaccinations, on monthly heart worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not administer it's own vaccination shots. All of our rescued dogs' medical care has been administered by a licensed Veterinarian. All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., pro-biotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
