My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you a little slow to warm to new people? Tired of this fast paced crazy world? Koenig might be your spirit animal! Read on below to learn more about Koenig and how to apply to adopt your next BFF 😍

What is your name? Koenig (which means King)

How old are you? About 1.5 years old

How much do you weigh? Roughly 60lbs

What do you look like? I am beautiful! My fur is light caramel color and my eyes are a light hazel. I am not too big or small.

What kind of personality do you have? I take a while to warm up to new people. I can be very particular! If you have a lot of people coming to visit or you are constantly on the go, I am NOTthe dog for you. A quiet stable environment would be the healthiest place for me. Once I like someone I am a great companion, I just need time!

Describe your perfect day. Probably playing with other dogs and having lots of snacks.

What is your favorite toy? All of them!

Do you know any tricks? I know basic commands like sit, but can still learn!

What scares you? New people, but nothing else in general.

Have you been around children, do you like them? I would do best in an all adult home.

Do you like cats? Cats? No thanks. I would probably chase them.

How do you feel about other dogs? I like them! I get along with all the dogs in my current place.

If you could be anywhere in the world where would it be? A nice yard would be pretty cool.

How is your health? I am very healthy!

Do you like walking on a leash? I can walk well but would take a lot of practice and a strong leader to get me into outside walks since I am afraid of new people. It might be more fun for me to play ball in a yard or play with other dogs in my backyard.

Do you have any not so great habits that we should know about for instance do you bark or dig in the yard? Outside of my fear of new people not really.

Are you house trained? Yes, I sure am.

Do you like water? Sure I do!

What do you love about your current family? I have been in temporary housing for a little while. It is ok because I get food, play time and a bed, the people here take good care of me but it isn’t a home.

What was your life like before being rescued by your current family? I am crashing at a kennel for now. My first home had a combined family and they were unable to manage my special needs with theirs. The place where I have been taken when my owners were out of town knew I deserved a chance so while I wasn’t the right fit for my prior family I deserve a home with the right person!

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread all throughout the Sacramento area. We usually require our adopters to be within a 50 to 100 mile radius of us, depending on the dog, and depending on the home. This is because we need to do a yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed. We are, however, willing to adopt out of our area, including the Bay Area, Tahoe, and even further. We've even adopted out of state on very special occasions. We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog. Our adoption fees are based on the dog and range from $200-$350. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary).

Koenig's adoption donation is $200.

Interested in meeting Koenig or any of our available pooches? Complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com and we will respond to you within 2-4 business days.
