Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COCOA is a 3-year-old neutered male chocolate lab. Cocoa weighs 60 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION Cocoa and his brother Teddy Bear were surrendered to a rural shelter in North Carolina when the owner could no longer take care of them. They are litter mates and no longer get along. Cocoa decided he doesn't like Teddy Bear any longer. Littermate syndrome. But Teddy Bear don't care. They are to be adopted separately. He is good with other dogs- prefers females- can be somewhat dominant with other males but eventually warms up. Now that he is neutered he may become less dominant when meeting other males. From the transporter: Cocoa is really sweet. He is very strong and needs work with his leash manners. He would be best walked on an ez walk harness and needs to start in training. He is really sweet and rode well in the crate. He did not mind going in the crate to ride so it may be something he is used to.
This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP. Lab Rescue LRCP rescues and places dogs in Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware and northeast North Carolina (30 miles east of I-95 and north of the Pamlico Sound.) Adopters must travel to Maryland, or Virginia with their family - human and canine - to meet the dog they want to adopt.
Lab Rescue LRCP has between 40 - 80 dogs available for adoption from foster homes across Maryland and Virginia, and at monthly adoption events. The adoption event dates and locations are listed at www.lab-rescue.org.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.lab-rescue.org and complete an adoption application. After you submit an application, you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator who will guide you through the adoption process.
