Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Revised Bio:
Every once in a while when we’re saving a border collie from a shelter, we will get a plea from the shelter staff to take on a “really nice ‘sort of border collie’ ” dog as they’ve chosen him or her to be extra lovely. Often deemed “a shelter favorite,” we’ve been fortunate enough to find them all forever homes. Some take longer than others, but we really feel that Johnny will find his forever home soon. We believe him to be a mixture of Labrador, Hound and yes! Border Collie.
He is a very handsome guy and who is quite athletic and it really comes through in his photographs. He has not shown any interest in jumping fences, but his body is very nimble and has great physical range. Johnny was found as a stray on an Indian Reservation near Tulare. He’s about 2 years old. Although it seems he might benefit from a few pounds as his body is very lean, his adopter should try to maintain a sporting weight for him as his body is - well we think - absolutely beautiful. He is goofy, sweet, loving, playful, really likes other dogs and plays with them well.
Johnny can be quite exuberant if he hasn’t seen you for a while, all he really wants is lots of loving when reunited, but he calms down quickly. While he is very good with all children, care must be taken with Johnny around small children as he might accidently knock them down. He is a lover, not a fighter. He is a companion dog, not a guard dog. But, he will answer back if a dog really pushes him too much. And he’s not a barker per say but he will bark at the appropriate time which makes him a great house dog to let you know if anything is out of sorts, etc. Johnny rides very well in the car, crates up nicely at events and behaves like a model citizen. He has been around large parrots and has no interest whatsoever.
Simply put, Johnny is one of the nicest mutts you will ever meet. This guy has major best friend potential, be it for a single person or an entire family. He will need an active life style as he is still an adolescent, who has been witnessed to do a little bit of item stealing and chewing, so chew toys are a must for him.
If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at http://www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
