Here's what the humans have to say about me:
You just have to consider adopting this awesome blind boy- Wilson! This amazing wonder boy is a Staffordshire mix who is close to 8 years old and weighs only 50lbs. Wilson was rescued off the streets of metro Atlanta, emaciated and nearly completely blind. One eye was heavily infected so the shelter removed it. We do put daily drops in his cataract eye- but he is so easy that’s it’s no big deal. Dumped by some crappy people who couldn’t be bothered to get him help or even feed him. We think that Wilson had the misfortune to live with an older person who likely could not afford to care for him and just let him go. Fortunately, Dekalb Animal Services recognized the sweetest and most loving boy under those bones and neglected eyes and nursed him back to health! Wilson wasn’t getting noticed at the Atlanta shelter (blind dogs are not hard!) so Jillian at Training To The Rescue is stepping in to help him. Loving and lovable Wilson is very friendly, quiet and he loves everyone. Wilson loves attention and is low energy. He’s happy to hang out with you and is comfortable with other dogs. Wilson is calm, mellow and quiet. Great in the car, he doesn’t mind you picking him up and LOVES sitting on a soft sofa! He makes his way around quite well as we expect he is 90% blind. Wilson has been at the shelter- waiting for a home- for far too long. It’s time we spring him out and get him his own people and fun in the sun! Wilson has shown no aggression, and knows some basic commands. He is smart and gets the “no” commands though he rarely needs you to use it! At the shelter, he’s not been exposed to cats or kids, so we would suggest older children and slow intros with kitties. Wilson doesn’t require daily walks but thoroughly enjoys exploring the outside world around him. He interacts fine with large and small dogs. He is leashed trained, crate trained and house trained as well. Wilson- would love a quiet home - maybe with few stairs? He would do great with other mellow dogs who didn’t require him to play! Wilson would love if you worked from home or better yet- took him to work! You just need to meet this awesome boy! Any questions-please contact Jillian at trainingtotherescue@gmail.com. To complete an online application, go to raincityrescue.com/adopt. His adoption fee is $200. This super shelter favorite, Wilson, is just the sweetest senior pup who deserves to spend his “golden years” with a fun loving family!
