Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CHANCE is a 2-year-old neutered male chocolate lab. Chance weighs 71 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 10 and up.
DESCRIPTION Chance was an owner surrender to the shelter. His owner was 80 years old and Chance is a 2 year old lab – just not a good fit. Chance is a friendly, happy, super handsome young lab looking for fun with an active family. He loves to chase the Frisbee (he can't catch it but will bring it back), loves to fetch the ball, and enjoys a good game of tug-of-war. Chance knows sit, shake, and lay down. He is house and crate trained and will sleep quietly all night in his crate. Chance knows how to use a doggie door. He needs some work on leash walking so a harness might help. Chance gets along well with other dogs. Chance's current foster says not to give him cow hoofs because he will eat them whole! But he does enjoy a PB kong. From the transporter: Chance is big, handsome chocolate lab. He doesn't seem used to a leash and is a strong puller. Chance loaded up in the crate very nicely so I think he's use to traveling like that. Not a peep out of him the entire trip. I was tempted to adopt him.
Update: Chance is doing well at his foster home. He is house-trained and crate-trained; he voluntarily lounges in his open crate, although he does whine a bit when locked in. He has a nice sit (see video ) and comes when called (his hearing can be selective if he is busy with a toy!). Chance likes to be with his people and shadows them as they go about their day. He is a typical, young lab and will steal socks (he just carries them so far), is very enthusiastic about getting petted and will climb into your lap, and he is a bit mouthy. He is a bit nervous in new situations (he pants and drools), but he gets along great with the resident dogs and rides wonderfully in the car. We are changing chance to Good with (dog-savvy) Cats, as he ignored the foster's resident cats after a couple of swats. we went for a hike - he was hesitant to get in the water, but loved running through the trails. Chance is an awesome dog that will will make a great addition to a family that is willing to train him and provide the exercise this young guy needs.
