Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hiroshi is a 6-month-old male Shiba Inu who was surrendered to a shelter. Hiroshi is a big boy for his age at 25lbs and growing! He is a happy-go-lucky Shiba who likes to play with other dogs all day. Hiroshi has gotten along with every dog he has met though he can be a bit rough with the seniors when he barrels over them during play. We think Hiroshi would do great with another dog. He shares his toys with people and other dogs. He sometimes takes food out of the other puppy, Izumi's mouth but he hasn't tried that move with the adult dogs in foster care. Hiroshi will also eat a meal out of the same bowl as another dog without any issues. Hiroshi shows no reactivity with dogs or people. However, Hiroshi is a big boy who is still learning manners so he can play-bite hard with people and dogs but will release when he realizes he is being too rough.
Hiroshi has not had any accidents since his first 2 days at Shiba HQ! Hiroshi is learning appropriate things to chew and needs monitoring and redirection to appropriate toys when he gets into things he shouldn't. Some of the things Hiroshi chewed on were shoes, pens, and pillows. Hiroshi also liked to help dig in the garden so his foster mom had to keep him inside during planting otherwise Hiroshi would go to all the new plants and help his foster mom with that digging thing! With positive reinforcement and appropriate redirection, Hiroshi has curbed his digging to the designated dig area - the garden sandbox!
Hiroshi's energy level is very high and he will require an active family to keep up with him! We think he would do great with another dog to help burn off that energy and he has loved playing with all breeds, however, we found out he doesn't seem to like black colored dogs of various breeds but those were limited to leash introductions and he has loved playing with all dogs once he has been properly introduced.
