Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Perfect Penelope is patiently waiting just for you! She is 14.5 lbs. of pure adorableness, affection and goofiness.
Penelope is a great cuddler, loves loves loves her people, gets along with other dogs and is known as the "hunter" of small critters. We are seeking a quiet home with breed specific knowledge and experience, no children under the age of 16 years old, dog companion her size and energy, a dog-savvy cat in the home is okay. She loves her yard, sunning herself, belly rubs, rolling in the grass; therefore, a single family detached dwelling with a secure fenced yard is required. As typical for her breed she likes to chase little critters like squirrels and should always being leashed with a harness and collar so she can stay safe and focused on her walks.
Penelope's ideal home would be with another dog her equal, semi active family that will provide her the exercise and interaction that she loves, patience and time that she needs to feel safe, build trust and confidence. Penelope is a little bit anxious with new places and situations but has already proven that her heart is open and accepting. Her best motivation is attention, gentleness and love with positive encouragement and she will thrive!
Penelope is potty, leash and crate trained. She is food and treat motivated, smart, loyal and adventurous. Her ideal home will include her as part of the family and provide her with unconditional love for the rest of her days.
Penelope is a healthy girl and as with any dachshund, their weight must be managed accordingly. She eats a grain-free high quality kibble to keep her healthy and her coat beautiful, a daily joint supplement, limited use of outdoor / indoor stairs and is learning to use indoor steps instead of jumping. This is all preventative ongoing care for IVDD.
She is fostered in Spokane, WA and if interested, please submit an online adoption application at www.hearts4doxiesrescue.org and we will review and get back to you promptly. An adoption application must be filled out for all inquiries and prior to a meet and greet. We will review and respond to applications, not all applications will necessarily be approved for a meet and greet. Home check prior to adoption approval.
