Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.
My name is Delores and I am a 13 year little lady who came to the kind folks at NBS Animal Rescue when I was found as a stray in Detroit and ended up in the city shelter. My good friends at NBS saw my severely matted/dirty fur and my need for medical attention and quickly scooped me up and took me to the vet.
I was in so much pain when I first came to NBS - I had big bladder stones that were causing me pain, my tightly matted fur wouldn't allow me to move my legs properly, and I had a nasty upper respiratory infection that had me feeling pretty crummy. I only had one tooth left when my NBS friends rescued me - and during my surgery that tooth had to be removed too. Don't worry though! I eat crunchy food better than my foster siblings who have a full mouth of teeth! The doggy doctors got me started on some good pain medications and antibiotics, I had surgery to remove my bladder stones, and my matted fur was shaved so that I could enjoy a warm bath.
I've recovered from my surgery and my upper respiratory infection and am ready to find my fur-ever home! I am learning how to potty on pee pads or outside but I still have a few accidents here and there. I enjoy being held and snoozing in your arms (even on my back!), going for short walks, and exploring my foster homes fenced yard. My foster home has other dogs in it - and we co-exist just fine, but I'm not too interested in interacting with them, and prefer if they just snooze on their own bed.
I bond really tightly with people I trust so I would do best in a home that is with a family who is home often, has a low key home environment without a lot of noise/activity, and someone who is home often.
My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?
These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.
- Children 15 years or older.
- 100% fenced in yard or ability to leash walk several times per day. No electric fences please.
- Quiet, low activity home.
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:
1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.
While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
