Here's what the humans have to say about me:
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO SET UP A TIME TO MEET OUR PETS.
Hope is a sweet Poodle, a Valentines Day special born on Feb 14, 2007. She is 12 years old and 14 pounds.
She lived in a home with an elderly owner and two other dogs. He did love her but obviously could no longer care for her properly.
Hope was a matted mess with long toenails when she was surrendered to us.
She got a dental and had to have all of her teeth removed. Her mouth feels so much better. She has a great appetite and does fine with soft food and treats.
Hope is good with all people and also with other dogs. We are housing her with our other dogs here and she does fine with all of them. When she meets a new dogs out in public, she simply peacefully gives them a sniff and then goes about her business.
Hope is sweet, quiet, friendly, and gets along with everyone. When she meets new strangers, she is totally fine with being picked up, etc. She likes laps and being held.
Now that she is groomed and free from all that matted fur, her cute personality is coming out and she will have sweet happy moments of prancing and wiggle wagging her body in happiness. We see occasional little play bows. Since she is a senior, she is normally very laid back and quiet, just toddling around the yard or sleeping peacefully in her room. She is quiet in her room.
She is housetrained and will pee and poop nicely for you when you take her out on the leash to the grassy yard.
We have realized that Hope is mostly blind and deaf but her nose shows her the way. She does great with an established routine and does not worry in new places or worry about new dogs, just ambles around and does not fret if she bumps into something unfamiliar. What a good natured girl!!
She is great on the leash and loves walking around outside and sniffing everything. Even though she cannot see where she is going, she is amazingly confident and just keeps on moving with a little guidance from the leash. When you see a curb coming up or other obstacle, all you need to do is lift her up or down and then she keeps on trotting along.
Hope does still seem to hear loud whistles, the clang of her kennel door, and such so you can still talk to her if you get really close to her ears.
She also seems to be able to see some shapes and light since she sometimes seems to move away from something she is about to bump into.
We took her to iHeart Radio for their weekly spot and she did absolutely great riding in the car and being in a brand new place. She just bumped her way around and enjoyed exploring.
She has an easy going confidence that serves her well. With new people, she quickly recognizes who you are by your actions, scent, etc. and she is more than happy to be friends and show you her happy dance. She is good about following our kennel staff when they take the little dogs outside or back inside.
Hope would be great in a one level home with other sweet little dogs for company. Don't you need to add a deserving senior to your home??
