My story:
Hi there! I’m Mabel. I made the long journey from Manitoba to the Lower Mainland in April, and I’ve settled nicely into foster care. My foster-family says I am a loving, playful young dog with equal parts energy and relaxation.
I prefer to be around people as opposed to by myself, because truthfully, I like lots of attention! I’m pretty curious and interested in other dogs, and I always hope they’ll play with me. I make sure to remain respectful though. I’m not particularly food driven at this point, and I’ll often eat slowly or graze over time. While I haven’t perfected all my leash manners yet, I’m working on heeling. I’m a pretty quick learner!
Like other dogs, I do have some fears that I’m working on, including my fear of walking onto new floor surfaces (shiny and smooth ones for the most part). I’m also a bit nervous of going into public buildings, especially if they’re unfamiliar. I hope we can work on these things together!
Perfect Match:
An active household with lots of time to spare for training, cuddles, and helping me to feel confident.
Fun Quirk:
I like to eat lying down, and I’ve also been known to be a bit of an escape artist at times!
Guilty Pleasure:
Reaching extreme couch-potato status in between bursts of running at full speed.
5yr Plan:
Hiking Dog Mountain in North Van with my “forever” family, and graduating with Honors from my training classes.
