Does your dog have any unique traits you have noticed whether in personality or physically: Colonel is a beautiful dog but he is very strong and doesn’t always recognize his own size and strength. He can be difficult to walk on leash and can play rough with people in the home. We have not seen any aggression what so ever – when he tries to play with us it is because he is bored and wants to get our attention. When he tries to play with people in the home he will do so by putting his teeth around your arm. With consistent positive reinforcement of good behaviour this is not something that he does with us anymore. In a new home environment, he may try this behaviour and push the boundaries as he learns again what is acceptable and not acceptable behaviour. His new family must be willing to work with him through this transition. Lots of exercise and mental stimulation is the key to managing his ‘rough housing’. The work will be well worth the reward.
What are the 3 first words that come to mind when you think of your dog: Playful, Goofy, Personal space invader
In a short paragraph Please provide any other details or a brief overview of your foster dog: Looking for a tall, dark, and handsome man? Colonel is the guy for you! Colonel came to us as a stray and was very underweight. He has made so much progress and is now ready to find his forever home. Colonel has blossomed into a total love bug. He has no concept of personal space – both with people and animals. He currently lives happily with another dog. If there is another dog in the home, they would have to have a similar ‘rough house’ style of play. This type of play makes him unsuitable for a home with children. He loves toys and loves to destroy them even more! Colonel is a very handsome guy and will thrive in a home that will be patient with him and embrace his goofy personality.
