Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Looking for adopter or foster** Hello there! My name is Tom-Tom and let me share with you some of what my good friends at NBS know about me. I am guessed to be about 5 years old and a Maltese/Jack Russell Terrier mix. Nobody really knows because my former owner died and the person who took me in after they passed away didn't know anything about me.
I am about 11 pounds. Perfect size for laying next to you (or on your lap!) and snuggling and getting pets. Nobody at NBS really knows what my previous life was like but I did come into the rescue with really itchy skin and fleas!! EEEKKKK!! The vet thinks that I had allergies to fleas and the fact that I was flea-infested when I was looking for a rescue group certainly made me very uncomfortable, huh?! But the good news is that my fleas are GONE...my skin is no longer itchy...and places where I lost my hair are starting to grow back! Yay meeee!! I even had all my teefers cleaned and they are a beautiful pearly white. I am microchipped, up to date on my vaccinations, neutered and on flea/tick preventative and heartworm meds. So I am good to be adopted!
So, I will let you in on a little secret. I don't like other dogs. I don't know if I had a bad experience with them or just wasn't socialized with any as a younger dog but they really freak me out! So no other dogs in the home for me please. I am not going to be a good candidate for dog parks or anything like that either.
But, I do LOVE MY PEOPLE!! I love the men, women, children...old, young....short, tall. Doesn't matter to me! If you are a human, I LOVE you! I am also potty trained. I run outside and bark-bark-bark to make sure I scare any wild animals out of my backyard. My foster Mom thinks that is funny. But then I quiet right down and do my business. I am actually pretty quiet in my house, unless you put me in a crate and then I cry for a bit before settling in. But don't worry, you can leave me loose in the house when you go to work or grocery shopping as I am not destructive at all! I love to play with balls and stuffed animals and chew on bones only! I am the perfect balance of liking to relax with my people and having great get-up-and-go to play and be active and go for walks and car rides.
My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?
These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Fenced yard or dedicated leash walking
- No other dogs in the home (cats and other animals unknown)
- No apartments since I sometimes like to bark
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:
1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….
2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.
3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.
My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!
Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past year.
While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
