My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Kaiser! I'm a 2 year-old, 27 lb., gorgeous standard longhair dachshund from Germany ! At first glance my luxuriously soft coat looks Black and Tan, but all of my hair is actually two-tone red and black, giving me the rare and beautiful Red Sable color. My original family used to live in Germany and bought me as a puppy from a German dachshund breeder - I even have an ID tattoo. My family loved me very much, but just couldn't take care of me anymore, so they asked the rescue to find me a great new forever home. I love people of all ages - young children, teenagers and adults - in fact, if you let me, I'll stay near you all day long! I grew up as an "only dog" but I'm very friendly with my 5 foster dachshund brothers and sisters… and I've paid no attention at all to the two cats! My most favorite activity is spending time with my humans. I LOVE playing fetch with any object you're willing to throw, and I enjoy belly rubs and cuddling when play time is over. When I look at you with my big brown eyes and waggily tail, you can't help but want to snuggle with me! I do have a bit of separation anxiety - I can get anxious and bark when my humans leave me, and I get so excited when they come back that I sometimes piddle a little bit in my happiness. But I am crate trained, and I'm a good boy and sleep through the night in my crate. I do have a history of "accidentally" escaping my property and exploring the neighborhood for hours on end, so a well-fenced yard is a necessity for me. And I could probably use some obedience training to improve my manners on the leash, but I do know what my foster mom means when she says "No!" I was recently neutered, I am up to date on all of my shots, I have been microchipped and other than treatment for Lyme disease from a tick bite, I am as healthy as an ox! If you are looking for a wonderful forever faithful companion, I am your man! My adoption fee is $250. Please contact my foster mom in Oxford , PA with any questions at Catherinevaughan@yahoo.com. Better photo coming soon! :)
