My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We're so excited to put this special mushy goofball of a cat out there for someone lucky to adopt. Oliver is an exceptionally affectionate and friendly and is trying to beat the world record for the longest lap cuddle, and needs your help! He's currently loving life at his foster home in South Slope and would love to welcome you over for some cuddles. Here's what his foster home have to say about him:

"Oliver is a ball of mush and love! We've never met such an affectionate cat. We call him a "dog cat" because he loves new people and wants to follow you wherever you go. Sometimes we trip on him because he wants to be right next to your feet! He is the ultimate lap cat - if you sit down, Oliver is ready for lap cuddles (for hours!). He will readjust and nudge your hand with his head or paw if you aren't paying enough attention to him. He loves to snuggle up in bed at night too. Although he does fine alone during the day, we think he'd be happiest in a home with people around most of the time so he can get all the love he craves!"

Oliver's story is that he appeared at a car lot in Bed Stuy in March 2019 where several cats are fed and loved by a kind neighbor. He was immediately affectionate with his feeder, who was convinced he was destined for a comfy life back indoor where we can only presume he started. As soon as a space opened up in our foster homes we brought him inside and sought veterinary care.

After we accomplished the basics of neuter and vaccination we noticed he had smelly breath and took him straight to the vet for a thorough examination. Turns out his body has a severe reaction to plaque build up on the teeth, causing infection. The options were a life on steroids or, remove the problem - the teeth! So with the help of some very generous friends he underwent full dental surgery to have his teeth removed - all of them!

What's it like having a toothless cat you might ask? Well much the same as a regular one, they eat and behave normally. Consider it a bonus, many pets at some point in their lives require costly dental cleaning and surgery, not Oliver, we got that all sorted for you.

Oliver is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He also tested negative for FIV/FeLV.
